Access ticket sales from our home page beginning September 13. | Announcing the 4th Annual “Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past” Walking Tour History comes alive…just in time for Halloween. Step into downtown Pittsboro for an unforgettable evening of local folklore and historical reenactments. The 2026 “Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past" walking tour blends Chatham County’s rich heritage with stories and legends, presented by costumed interpreters portraying figures from the town’s past. The journey begins at the historic courthouse and winds through old cemeteries, churches, and hidden corners, with each stop offering a window into the people and moments that shaped Pittsboro. This isn’t your typical history lesson -- expect drama, humor, and plenty of surprises as you explore hidden corners and some untold tales that make Pittsboro unique. Whether you are a local or a first-time visitor, you will see Pittsboro in a whole new light. Due to interest and demand, we are adding an additional evening of tours this year! Join us October 23, 24, and 25 for Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past, an evening of stories, history, and encounters with some of Pittsboro’s most interesting characters from the past. As you walk through historic Pittsboro, you will meet spirits who bring local history to life, sharing their stories of mystery, triumph, and unexpected events that helped shape our community. Tickets go on sale to CCHA members September 13. If still available, they will go on sale to the general community October 1. Tours will be held on Friday, October 23; Saturday, October 24; and Sunday, October 25, 2026. Tickets: $25 for CCHA members; $30 for nonmembers (members may purchase guest tickets at member price). Tickets will be available online only from the CCHA home page: https://chathamhistory.org. Tickets sell out quickly. Tour details: The tours will begin at the Historic Chatham Courthouse promptly at 5:30 pm. The tour will take about two hours. We will move at a leisurely pace and will encounter spirits along the way who will tell their past stories. Open to participants age 12 and older. No pets, strollers, or alcohol on the tour. Tours are held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, the tour will be rescheduled and participants will be notified of any changes. Additional details will be provided at registration. A total of 60 tickets per tour date will be sold. Tour participants will be divided into three small groups for each tour. The experience will be the same for all small groups for each tour date. Tickets will be $25 for CCHA members and $30 for nonmembers. Members may order guest tickets at the member price. Remember, you must log in to your member profile to get the member price. Tickets will be available to members only beginning September 13. If tickets remain, public (non-members) ticket sales will begin October 1. We welcome and encourage you to join the CCHA to enjoy early ticket access and obtain the discounted rate. Tickets are available online only.
