Volunteer with Us!

If you’re interested in Chatham County history or service to your community

while working with some great people – volunteer with us!

One of the very best ways to preserve history is to share it with others. Our volunteers share Chatham County history by:

Volunteering as a Museum staff member to greet visitors or give tours
Guiding fourth grade students through a morning of history, government, and civics
Being reenactors at events
Participating in local fests representing CCHA to talk about Chatham History and CCHA

Other ways to preserve and share Chatham History:

Design exhibits for the Museum
Catalog and research donations to the CCHA Collection
Digitize photographs and documents for addition to the online collection
Answer questions curious people ask about Chatham County history via emails
Write articles about your specific interest in Chatham County – (or we have a list)
Share your photos of Chatham's past
Suggest programs CCHA can present to the public
Go into the field to document historic structures and cemeteries
Maintain the Manly Law Office building or grounds
Fill genealogy requests with local information
Fundraise for CCHA’s preserving and sharing activities
Share what you know about Chatham history on our Facebook page

To talk to a current volunteer, call the office during regular Museum hours: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11-4, or email our volunteer coordinator at: Volunteers@chathamhistory.org and we’ll contact you. Our current volunteers would love to meet you and talk about what you’d like to do.

Training in Chatham County History occurs for all Volunteers, so don’t be shy! We'll get you up to speed!

To volunteer you must be a member of CCHA.
