Hands-On Introduction to Chatham County Geology - Rock Identification

Come meet Chris Palmer and bring your Chatham County rocks, fossils, minerals! We are eager to see and learn about your Chatham treasures and would love to photograph and record information about ones not in our collection. Or, if you’ve collected samples that you aren’t sure about, Chris can help identify them and tell you more about them. It will be especially helpful if you can tell us where your treasures were found in the county.   This program will introduce County geology, rocks and minerals to all so bring the family.

Chris has donated (with help from the North Carolina Geological Survey) a collection of Chatham rocks to CCHA. Those will be on exhibit, and he will be happy to answer questions about them. Chatham soil maps and mining information will also be on display.
