Announcing the 2nd Annual “Spirits of Pittsboro’s Past” Walking Tour
What spirits lurk in downtown Pittsboro? Experience an out of the ordinary historical walking tour! In the spirit of Halloween, participants will be in search of ghostly spirits from the town’s past. Walk in the footsteps of those who came before us to see the town and its buildings and sites in a new way.
What to expect:
On two Saturdays, October 5 and October 19, participants will be led through a one-mile tour of downtown Pittsboro visiting historical sites and learning local folklore while encountering “spirits” along the way. We will tour sites such as the Masonic Lodge, St Barts Church and cemetery, and much more.
We will assemble at the Historic Chatham Courthouse at 5:30 pm. Please arrive by 5:15 so we can depart on time. The tour will take about two hours. We will move at a leisurely pace and will encounter spirits along the way who will tell their past stories.
Bring a flashlight. Content will be appropriate for participants 12 and older. All participants will be asked to sign a liability waiver. Wear comfortable shoes and bring rain gear if rain is expected. Ticket holders will be contacted if stormy weather is expected and the event is rescheduled to a rain date.
Directions to the courthouse and parking information can be found here.
Ticketing information:
Tour participants will be divided into three small groups for the October 5 tour (rain date October 12) and also for the October 19 tour (rain date October 26).
