The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray was a twentieth-century civil and human rights activist, legal scholar, feminist, poet, author, and Episcopal priest. Her 1956 book, Proud Shoes: The Story of an American Family, describes her family’s history in Durham from the pre-Civil War era through Reconstruction. Ms. Mason will talk about Pauli Murray’s life and the Pauli Murray Center in Durham.
