Discover Chatham’s Ancient Past ~ Native American Artifacts at the Museum
Saturday, November 28, 12-4 pm
What can a small stone tell us about the people who lived in Chatham County thousands of years ago? Come find out Saturday, November 28 where we will be highlighting Native American artifacts at the Chatham Historical Museum. We’ll have a collection of projectile points available for visitors to examine and identify. Using reference charts, you can compare the points and identify different types to determine their approximate age. It’s a good opportunity to see how archaeologists use the size, shape and craftsmanship of these artifacts to learn about the past.
This hands-on event will be especially fun for families and young history detectives. Visitors ages 5 to 15 can select a free projectile point to take home.
Stop by and spend some time exploring a part of Chatham’s history reaching back thousands of years. As always, admission to the museum is free and all are welcome!
